A mother and son duo, Amee and Gopal have lived and worked around the world. They have returned to Kenya, to join the family group of businesses.
Living in Kaijado is a vast contrast to anywhere else. It is simple living at its best…rich and magnanimous, working with the ever-fruitful earth.
The day starts early for the family. Working on the farm means rising with the sun. They are greeted with the sun rising over the dam, as birds start their song. The fog clears to reveal the brown, bountiful fields. This earth is virgin…fertile and untouched. The earth’s fragrance is rich, laced with the heady scent of the acacia trees. This vision is enamouring…the sounds, the sights, and the fragrance.
Amee and Gopal consider themselves to be most fortunate to be here, upon this beautiful land.
Based in the Kajiado district, South West Kenya, Orchard Picks has played a major role in developing this little town. We employ over 3500 locals, providing free housing to around 1000 of them.
Developing and supporting the community is a key part of our role here. We are committed to looking after our entire community. We have built a school serving around 400 students, and also have a medical facility for our staff members.
We also actively support animal rights by housing almost 700 cows and bulls which would have otherwise been sold off to slaughterhouses.
